The scenery in Queenstown will blow your mind
Famous for its jaw-dropping scenery Queenstown seems to be on everyone’s wishlist. Having been there a few times I can confidently say so it should be.
For long term hires, we’ll do our utmost to accommodate Queenstown as your starting point or finishing point. To be honest we LOVE an excuse to get down there ourselves so it will most likely be Kylee and/or myself meeting you there and personally handing over your chosen campervan.
If you’re starting or finishing your hire here then you’ll be flying in or out and this makes the airport the obvious meeting place.
Where to stay in Queenstown in a campervan
Free camping or freedom camping in Queenstown is not an option. This town enforces the ‘no overnight camping’ without exception and there are no free camping areas within or even on the outskirts of the town. So, if you want to stay in the town then just pay the money and stay at a holiday park as it’s really the only option.
When we visit Queenstown in a campervan we always stay at Queenstown Holiday Park Creeksyde. It’s superbly run, it’s walking distance to town and the facilities are top-notch. This has to be the most impressive holiday park for campervans in the whole of New Zealand and everyone there – the owner, the cleaning staff, reception staff are just so friendly and welcoming. This is not a shameless plug and we’re not getting any sort of commission – we just want to make sure you know about the best places we’ve had the pleasure of ourselves.
Things to do in Queenstown
Skyline sits on the mountainside directly above the town. You can walk to the Skyline gondola from Queenstown Holiday Park Creeksyde.
Mountain Biking in Queenstown is superb. If you don’t want to ride up any hills then buy a pass for Skyline and enjoy the gondola ride like I do. There’s a luge ride from the top of the hill or explore some of the walks. How ever you get up there – you’ll love the view!
